Brian Ortega, #2 in the UFC featherweight rankings, will no longer be able to make his scheduled apperance at UFC Fight Night 165. According to sources, just 16 days before the event start date former UFC featherweight challenger has had to withdraw from the fight due to an injury. The cause and the nature of the injury is still not known. Also, it’s unknown at this time if the UFC will attempt to find a short-notice replacement for Ortega, or if the fight will be rescheduled at a later date.
The American fighter was supposed to meet Chan Sung Jung in the main event of the evening.
The 28-year-old Brian Ortega made his professional MMA debut on April 25, 2010. Since then, the America has made 15 appearances in the cage resulting in 14 wins, 1 defeat and 0 draws (6-1-0 UFC).
He was last in action 12 months ago when he suffered a 4-round TKO loss to Max Holloway in a featherweight championship match at UFC 231 – Holloway vs. Ortega.
As a reminder, UFC Fight Night 165 is set to take place on December 21, 2019 in Busan, South Korea.
