Shamil Abdurakhimov vs. Ciryl Gane booked for UFC 249

Currently ranked at #10 in the UFC standings at heavyweight, Shamil Abdurakhimov is returning to the octagon at UFC 249 on April 18, 2020 in Brooklyn, New York, United States. He is expected to fight ranked No. 4 Ciryl Gane, according to MMA Junkie’s sources.

Currently on a 4-1-0 run, Shamil Abdurakhimov will look to get back to winning ways. In his last two fights, the 38-year-old defeated Marcin Tybura (Poland) via TKO in the round 2 and most recently suffered a 2-round TKO defeat to Curtis Blaydes (United States) on September 7, 2019. The Russian holds an overall record of 20-5-0 (Wins-Losses-Draws) in his professional career, including a 5-3-0 mark in the UFC.

The 29-year-old Paris native Ciryl Gane, meanwhile, is 6-0-0 as a pro (3-0-0 UFC). He is coming off a unanimous decision win over Tanner Boser at UFC Fight Night 165 – Edgar vs. Korean Zombie in December 2019 and a 3-round heel hook win over Don’Tale Mayes in October at UFC Fight Night 162 – Maia vs. Askren.

As for the event, UFC 249 is set to take place on April 18, 2020 in Brooklyn, New York, United States. The evening will be headlined by a lightweight championship bout between the reigning champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former interim champion Tony Ferguson.
