Ryan Spann will no longer be competing at UFC 247. 60 days before the event he has had to withdraw from the fight against Ovince Saint Preux. The fighter announced his withdrawal on social media, but offered no reasons:
“Well, I’m not doing UFC Houston Feb 8th anymore my people. I apologize. Working on something else but not official yet”, – wrote Spann.
According to MMA Junkie, sources close to the situation have confirmed that no replacement will be sought for Saint Preux.
The 28-year-old Ryan Spann is currently riding a 7-fight winning streak. Since his professional MMA debut in February 2013, the American fighter has made 22 appearances in the cage resulting in 17 wins, 5 defeats and 0 draws (3-0-0 UFC).
He was last in action 2 months ago when he scored a 2-round guillotine choke win over Devin Clark (United States) at UFC Fight Night 161 – Jedrzejczyk vs. Waterson.
As for the event, UFC 247 is set to take place on February 8, 2020 in Houston, Texas, United States. It will be headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between the current champion Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes.
