Featherweight champion Max Holloway is reportedly moving up in weight to face Tony Ferguson for the lightweight interim belt at UFC 236.
With UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov out of competition for at least nine months due to a suspension, it seems that the UFC is looking into alternative options for the division. As with most cases when a champion is absent for an extended period of time without being stripped of the title, the UFC will be creating an interim title. According to Chris Taylor of BJPenn.com, featherweight champion Max Holloway will be making the move up to lightweight to challenge number one contender Tony Ferguson for the interim belt.
