CWFC Champ Jai Herbert Steps in for Stevie Ray at UFC London

The UFC has found a replacement for injured Stevie Ray (23-9-0 MMA | 7-4-0 UFC). 53 days before the event Jai Herbert accepted the UFC London spot to face Marc Diakiese (14-3-0 MMA | 5-3-0 UFC) in his first bout under the UFC banner. MMA Junkie confirmed the booking of the lightweight matchup with sources close to the situation.

The 31-year-old Jai Herbert is the Cage Warriors lightweight champion. He made his professional MMA debut on March 28, 2015. Since then, the English fighter has made 11 appearances in the cage resulting in 10 wins, 1 defeats and 0 draws. All but one of his wins coming by stopage: 8 knockouts and 1 submission.

Currently, Herbert is on a six-fight winning streak and most recently defeated Cain Carrizosa via knockout in the first round on October 26, 2019 at CW 109. Prior to the win he scored a third-round TKO over Jack Grant in June, 2019.

UFC London is set to take place on March 21, 2020 in London, England, United Kingdom. It will be headlined by a welterweight showdown between former champion Tyron Woodley and Leon Edwards.
