Brad Tavares Injured, Out of UFC Brasilia

Brad Tavares

#11 in the UFC middleweight rankings Brad Tavares will no longer be able to make his scheduled apperance at UFC Brasilia, per multiple sources. One and a half month before the event start date he has been forced to withdraw from the fight due to a ruptured ACL in his knee.

The American was supposed to face #14 Antonio Carlos Jr. in a middleweight affair. It’s unknown at this time if the UFC will attempt to find a replacement for Tavares, or if the fight will be rescheduled at a later date.

The 32-year-old Brad Tavares made his professional MMA debut on June 29, 2007. Since then, the American fighter has made 23 appearances in the cage resulting in 17 wins, 6 defeats and 0 draws (12-6-0 UFC).

He was last in action 2 months ago when he suffered a 1-round KO loss to Edmen Shahbazyan (United States) at UFC 244 – Masvidal vs. Diaz. With that loss, the fighter’s losing streak grew to two bouts.
