Jimmie Rivera and Marlon Vera won’t meet at UFC 247

Jimmie Rivera, #7 in the UFC bantamweight rankings, will no longer be able to make his scheduled apperance at UFC 247. Just 17 days before the event start date the fighter has been forced to withdraw from his bout against Marlon Vera. According to MMA Junkie’s sources, an undisclosed injury ruled Rivera out of the fight. It’s unknown at this time if the UFC will attempt to find a replacement or if the matchup will be rescheduled at a later date.

The 30-year-old Jimmie Rivera made his professional MMA debut 11 years ago. Since then, the American fighter has made 26 appearances in the cage resulting in 22 wins, 4 defeats and 0 draws (6-3-0 UFC | 4-0-0 Bellator).

He was last in action 7 months and 15 days ago when he suffered a unanimous decision to Petr Yan (Russia) at UFC 238 – Cejudo vs. Moraes. It was the second straight loss for Rivera.

As for the event, UFC 247 is set to take place on February 8, 2020 in Houston, Texas, United States. It will be headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between the current champion Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes.
