Former bantamweight titleholder Renan Barao and the UFC are calling it quits on their partnership. UFC chose not to renew his contract.
The Brazilian has not commented yet on his release or what his plans are after leaving the promotion.
Renan Barao (34-9-0 ММА) made his UFC debut in May 2011. Since then, the Brazilian has had 17 fights under the promotion’s banner, resulting in 9 wins, 8 defeats and 0 draws. Being interim titleholder, Barao was promoted to undisputed champion in January 2014 after Dominick Cruz vacated his belt. After a successful defence against Urijah Faber, he lost his title to T.J. Dillashaw in May 2014. Currently, the Brazilian fighter is on a 5-fight losing streak. He last fought 21 days ago when he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Douglas Silva de Andrade.
